About Salford Crossroads – Caring for Carers

Crossroads Caring for Carers (Salford, Trafford & Stockport) is a member of the National Crossroads Association which was founded in Rugby in 1974.

The Crossroads schemes of Salford, Trafford and Stockport existed on their own until 2008 when they merged with each other to create one new scheme.

We are a registered charity providing services to Carers in Salford, Trafford and Stockport who look after disabled children, young people and adults in their own homes whilst the Carer takes a break.

The overall principle of the Crossroads - Caring for Carers (Salford, Trafford & Stockport) scheme is to provide practical and emotional support to Carers who are responsible for the care of children, adults or older people at home, who have a physical/sensory disability, learning disability, mental health disability, life limiting illness or who are chronically ill.

A Carer may be a friend, neighbour or relative who is providing support to someone else, either within the same household or living elsewhere, who would otherwise not be able to manage without that help.

Crossroads Carer Support Workers are fully trained and meet the needs of carers in an individually tailored way. The support is totally flexible and adaptable around carers needs, rather than families having to fit their needs around the availability of the service.
